A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is being developed
to facilitate control of the array. The program consists
of:
- an instrument status window - providing an
``at-a-glance'' summary of the instrument condition.
- a cryostat window - providing tabular and
graphical readouts of the dewar internal pressure and
temperatures.
- a local oscillator window - allowing user
input of observing frequencies and modes of operation
(DSB, LSB, USB). It will also show the status of MPI movements.
- a receiver rocket window - providing tabular
and graphical readouts of each channel's SIS, LNA, magnet,
and total power levels. User inputs will allow the mixers
to be remotely tuned.
The graphical interface is written using the new GTK X-Windows toolkit
and standard C programming techniques. Use of Perl and CGI scripting
will allow monitoring of the receiver status from any Web browser, and
full control of the receiver can be obtained by remote X-Windows
operation. Not only will the software be extremely simple to use; it
is also fast, tightly-coded, and extremely flexible.
