New Technology Development at SORAL

Submillimeter technologies have only become truly feasible during the last 10 years or so. Receivers at near-THz frequencies are still many factors away from the quantum limit in terms of sensitivity. New technologies to push the efficiency and wavelength coverage will bring about a major advance in submillimeter capabilities in the next decade. At SORAL, we are currently working on two major fronts that will revolutionize the development of high-frequency submillimeter receiver (arrays):

A 2 Terahertz, 16-element Heterodyne Array receiver for SOFIA
